Somewhere Near Waco, TX

"Coming home from very lonely places, all of us go a little mad: whether from great personal success, or just an all-night drive, we are the sole survivors of a world no one else has ever seen."
- John le Carre

Eddie was obsessed with the Branch Davidian complex near Waco. And who wouldn't be? What a great bonus it would make. I don't think anyone but me might really know how hard he worked at finding the perfect bonuses.

We were in the general area the week between Christmas & New Years, 2007. Pitch black dark, rain, & gravel roads. Back & forth, u-turns, over & over again because he just couldn't locate it.

A truck load of drunk teenagers drives past us hurling obscenities & beer cans.

My patience was done. All I wanted was a warm motel room & out of my riding gear. He called me "unadventurous". Yeah, right.

We didn't speak for the next couple of hours. Him because he was mad. Me beca
use I was asleep. (Sleeping on the back of that bike became a habit of mine fairly quickly.)

For some reason that quote reminded me of that crazy night in cold, rainy Texas. I miss those times so much.

(We made up at the next gas stop. Stuff like that always made us laugh...afterwards)
